The Ghana Football Association has attracted another support from Fifa as the world sport body provides funds to develop facilities at its technical centre.
Ghana would be sourcing from the Fifa Goal III project $400,000 with the FA backing it up with $25,000 towards the construction of a multi-purpose dining and conference facility plus a kitchen at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, Sampon Kablan – Fifa development officer together with officials of Pro-Ark Limited – Project Consultants - and Civicom Ghana Ltd today initialed the agreement for the project.
The multi-purpose dining and conference facility plus kitchen would be developed on a 784sqm area to accommodate more than 200 people while the old kitchen, presently housed in the main structure – funded from the Goal I – would be turned into a clinic.
“By signing this document today, we expect the contractor to hit the ground running.
“We hope that eight months after signing the contract, the building would be standing ready for utilization,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said at Thursday’s signing ceremony.
Ghana, through large Fifa financial support over the years has been developing its technical centre in Prampram on a 100 acre land. The FA hopes to complete the masterplan to ease the huge financial commitments expended on the use of other facilities for national assignments.
“We are very grateful for Fifa’s continuous support. We hope we can count on more while we also generate funds internally to develop the plan.
“Fifa has helped us put up Prampram, our headquarters in Accra and the provision of an artificial pitch in Tema.”
“We have only utilized 20% of a vast land measuring up to 100 acres. We hope to realize the masterplan in future.
“That (masterplan), a 3-star facility would include a sports centre, auditorium and a 5,000-seater stadium. And we hope to achieve this,” Nyantakyi added.
