Milovan Rajevac says the Black Stars are ready to deal with the pressures of attempting to become the first African side to reach the World Cup semi-finals when they meet Uruguay today.

Ghana meets the two-time winners of the World Cup, in 1930 and 1950 on Friday at the Soccer City. They are the only African country left in the tournament and Rajevac feels his side, carrying the entire hopes of a continent can deliver.

“When it comes to this level of football you do not have bad sides. This result depends on us,” Rajevac said. “It is important how we start and that we try and impose ourselves on Uruguay from the beginning.”

"We have to respect Uruguay and the fact that we have four teams from South America out of the eight teams left means they play very good football," he said.

There is huge support for Ghana as the Black Stars blaze the trail for the continent but if they are going to do it, Rajevac’s side need to go past Uruguay.

"Uruguay have a big heart, they have great stars such as Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan. It will be a very difficult game, the stakes are high, it's a big day for us, Africa and, of course, for Uruguay and South America."
