University of Ghana Corporate Football League – Week 4
Ghana Football Association 2–0 Bui Power Authority
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recorded our second consecutive victory in the University of Ghana Corporate Football League with an impressive 2–0 win over Bui Power Authority in a Week 4 encounter.
Coming into the game fresh from the team's first victory of the campaign against the University of Ghana in the previous round, the GFA team faced a formidable Bui Power side but started the match with great confidence.
GFA dominated proceedings in the first half, creating several goal-scoring opportunities but failing to convert early chances. Our team's persistence eventually paid off when John Paintsil dribbled his way into the penalty box and was brought down, earning GFA a penalty. Joseph Tetteh Zutah calmly stepped up and sent the Bui Power goalkeeper the wrong way to give GFA a deserved lead.
Shortly after, GFA goalkeeper Nathan Marcells produced a fantastic save to deny Bui Power from a well-struck free kick, ensuring that the GFA side maintained our advantage heading into halftime.
Halftime: GFA 1–0 Bui Power Authority
Our gallant team doubled the lead ten minutes into the second half when Eric Donkor finished brilliantly from just inside the penalty box to make it 2–0.
The remainder of the second half was more balanced, with both sides creating chances. GFA’s Philip Aseweh came close to extending the lead but missed a glorious opportunity to make it 3–0. Bui Power also pushed forward and nearly reduced the deficit in the closing moments of the match but failed to convert a clear chance.
At the final whistle, the GFA emerged deserved 2–0 winners, securing a second consecutive victory in the competition.
Special commendation goes to the GFA coaching team comprising Sheikh Tophic, Andrews Eshun, Naser and Prince, with support from Caroline Anyanful, whose tactical preparation, discipline, and motivation have been instrumental in guiding the team to back-to-back victories. Their leadership continues to shape a cohesive and determined GFA side in the competition.
The result sparked jubilant scenes among the GFA team and our supporters as we celebrated a strong performance in the league.
The GFA's participation in the University of Ghana Corporate Football League forms part of the Association's efforts to create a vibrant environment amongst staff of our Association and other stakeholder groups affiliated to the Association.
