The Football4Girls initiative in the Upper West Region continues to gain momentum and national attention, reflecting the successful collaboration between the Ghana Football Association’s Technical Directorate and the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Anchored in the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy, the programme aims to identify, nurture, and empower young female talents across basic schools while eliminating barriers that limit girls’ participation in football. The initiative is designed to ensure that every girl has equal and unhindered access to the sport, encouraging them to pursue football confidently and without restriction.

The latest engagement in the Nadowli Kaleo District drew strong support from key education stakeholders, including Deputy GES Director Michael Azaasomah Kpan and his team—Lampson Adams Lengwa, Bernard K. Luginaa, Victoria Dindobuo and Albert S. Volsuur—alongside head teachers and other teaching staff.

Head of Women’s Football Development, Jennifer Amankwah, led the session and provided a clear breakdown of the Women’s Football Strategy, outlining its vision, objectives, and long-term mission to pupils, parents and community leaders. She educated participants on dismantling misconceptions surrounding girls’ participation in football and encouraged young girls to view the sport as a viable profession and lifelong career pathway.

The Football Association reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening grassroots development through the Football4Girls Project and the broader Women’s Football Strategy.

The GFA emphasised its readiness to provide continued support and resources to sustain growth, expand participation, and ensure that more girls across the country are inspired and empowered through football.
