Ato Ahwoi will receive an honor from the Ghana Football Association for his immense role played in the development of Club football in the country.

He is on a list of a few individuals and corporate bodies who will be recipients on Friday during a special dinner in Accra to recognize them for their distinguished contribution to the game in Ghana.

Ato Ahwoi, a former Board Chairman of Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak will be decorated as the most successful Club Board chairman in Ghana.

He presided over Hearts of Oak's most successful spell ever in their 102-year history as the Club won its first ever CAF Champions League (2000), the CAF Super Cup (2001) and the CAF Confederations Cup (2004).

During his period at the helm of the club, Hearts of Oak also won the Ghana premier league six consecutive times, a feat that is unprecedented.

The Club was also rated as the 8th Best Club in the world by CNN/ World Soccer magazine under his tenure.

Supreme Court Justices, Sule Gbadegbe and Anin Yeboah, Justice Isaac Aboagye, Justice Amadou Tanko and Mr Nutifafa Kuenyehia, Mr Kenneth Johnfia and Mr J.K.C. Edzie will also receive awards for their contributions to Ghana football at the event.
