Ghana is counting on its recent successes in the game, chalked under the reign of Kwesi Nyantakyi to secure a place on CAF's Executive Committee.

Nyantakyi, the President of the Ghana Football Association is among four candidates - two have pulled out - for the single Zone West B slot on the governing body's Executive Committee when the continent's delegates vote in Sudan on Wednesday.

Electoral success would see Kwesi Nyantakyi become the first Ghanaian to secure a place on the Executive Committee since 1994 when Sam Okyere last served in the post.

The 43 year-old's reign as President of the Ghanaian FA has brought about an upsurge as the national teams hog the limelight on the world stage, preserving Africa's presence in the game with their performances.

Overseeing tremendous development of the game both on and off the field, Nyantakyi's claim for the position left vacant following the retirement Seyi Memene of Togo is certainly a good ticket.

Ghana football has been on the rise since Kwesi Nyantakyi took over the administration of the game, leading the Black Stars to two impressive World Cups in 2006 and 2010.

Ghana also won Africa's first U-20 World Cup title when the Black Satellites beat Brazil two years ago in the final in Egypt.

Nyantakyi, a long-serving sports administrator who has risen through the ranks is making his first attempt on the continental front, says he expects competition from Benin's Anjorin Moucharafou

Several other positions are up for grabs when the Caf elections are held on Wednesday.
