Over four days, General Secretaries and Technical Directors from some FAs on the continent had been undergoing training and as the seminar came to an end, the expectation is for their various countries to make giant strides in the administration and technical development of the game.

The focus of the seminar was to improve the knowledge base of the participants as they exchanged experience and expertise. Participants were updated on FIFA development programmes, the transfer matching system for players, licensing of coaches, the strategic roles of the technical directors and general secretaries and the importance of the four Task Forces set up by the FIFA Ex.Co to reform the game.

The four-day event finished on Thursday in Accra with FIFA Manager in charge of Development Programmes in Africa, Francesco Bruscoli urging the Football Associations to set periodic targets for their technical directors to implement programmes and ensure their sustainability.

“The technical directors of national associations should be given at least a four-year mandate on contractual basis,” Bruscoli said.

“This is not a commitment but rather an obligation and we hope for those associations who are not practicing this at the moment, make it a must to start immediately.”

Impressed with the organization and the input of participants, Ghana, host of the regional seminar which had 17-member associations being represented was commended.

Bruscoli added: "We have been very impressed with Ghana’s organization of this seminar.”

"Ghana has demonstrated its competence in its organization in all sectors and it is not surprising that their teams do very well on the field of play."
