Family of Peter Lamptey notifies GFA of Ghana legend's passing

The Ghana Football Association has officially been notified of the passing of former Ghana player Peter Lamptey, affectionately known as "Goal Thief".

According to the family, the late Peter Lamptey, who played for Accra Great Olympics and Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Kaneshie Poly Clinic.

During his time with the Ghanaian giants, he formed a lethal attacking partnership with legends like Mohammed Polo, Anas Seidu, Mama Acquah, and Robert Hammond.

He also represented Ghana at various championships, including the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.

Peter Lamptey won the Ghana Premier League five times and three FA Cups, and was the top scorer in the 1973 league season.

The leadership of the Ghana Football Association wishes to extend its deepest condolences to his family in this difficult moment.
