A report in the Ghanaian press claiming the Ghana Football Association has contracted German trainer, Guido Buchwald regarding the substantive managerial position for the Black Stars has been denied as untrue.

According to a report by the newswire, the Ghana News Agency on Monday, the German had signed a two-year renewable contract to become the manager of the Black Stars and would be unveiled next Monday, June 23 as the successor of the immediate past substantive coach, Claude Le Roy.

But the Ghana Football Association’s official spokesperson, Randy Abbey says the media report is "absolutely not correct."

"In relation to what has been published by the media regarding the appointment of a substantive coach for the Black Stars, the Ghana Football Association would like to state emphatically that the information out there is untrue.

"The FA has not taken any such decision and would only do so when it is ready and has satisfied itself with the options available. The Ghana Football Association has not agreed or signed any contract with any such person to take over the Ghana job.

"The FA has a responsibility to find and name a substantive manager and we would do that when we are ready,” Randy Abbey told www.ghanafa.org.

“We are focusing on the team’s upcoming game on Sunday against Gabon in the qualifiers for the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup.”
