FA Cup Profile

The FA Cup, is one of the longest running football competitions on the domestic front. This knockout competition is a platform where clubs in the lower tier Leagues get to challenge those in the second and first tier Leagues for the title. The FA Cup is currently known as MTN FA Cup for sponsorship purposes.

The competition is played between the clubs of the Premier League, Division One League and Division Two. Ghana’s first FA Cup competition took place in the season 1957-1958. Accra Hearts of Oak is the most successful club, having won the competition on 10 occasions, followed by Asante Kotoko who have won the cup on nine occasions. The current FA Cup holders are Asante Kotoko. They defeated theoir arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 3-1 in the 2017 final.
