Another fine season is close to coming to an end but the winner of the competition would be decided over the weekend when the final round of matches is played. Likewise two other sides who get relegated alongside, Sporting Mirren.

The close title run-in has heightened concerns for a true winner to emerge in the Glo Premier League. And such concern has not been lost on Kwesi Nyantakyi, the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Nyantakyi is confident that a clean campaign would be wrapped up this weekend with the champion declared after the final day games.

However the FA President is counting on the sport body’s judicial organs to contribute towards a successful campaign by dealing with the backlog of cases in the premiership before the teams head into match-day-30.

Once cases of protest, appeals and reviews are sorted out before the last matches, Kwesi Nyantakyi believes the declaration of the winner and the determination of the relegated sides would not generate any controversy.

“We had a series of meetings with members of our judicial bodies last week and made it clear that they need to settle all cases between and amongst the clubs before the final matches.

“We do not want a situation where after the final matches; decisions come out and one-way or the other, influence the standings on the league table.

“So, I charged them (judicial organs) to consider as a matter of urgency, on a day-by-day basis to resolve all the pending cases before the last matches.

“I believe this week; they would be meeting regularly to resolve such cases that even have the tendency of taking away points.

“But for cases that has to deal with violence that we would have to prefer some charges before prosecution that would drag on a bit. Such cases may take time,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

Violence has been recorded at some grounds as the season winds down and the FA President believes such acts only tend to drive away descent people from the stadia.

“One of the worry is that stands are virtually empty and the grounds are not secure. Some think the stadia are just dens for violence and acts of lawlessness.

“I assure our descent fans that we would work within the law and would deal with anybody who works against the laws of the country. I am more confident that when we achieve law and order, this would bring back some life to our stadia,” said the Ghana Football Association President.
