Michael Essien's agent, Fabien Piveteau has refuted claims that the Ghanaian midfielder has had contact with Italian side, Inter Milan over a possible summer transfer.

Essien, along with Chelsea team-mates Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, have been linked with a move to Inter following the Nerazzurri’s appointment of Jose Mourinho, their former manager at Stamford Bridge.

However, Piveteau says the Blues have not been approached by Inter for the Ghana midfielder.

"I have read the English tabloids and seen the rumours," he told an Italian website.

"But I can say that Inter aren't trying to sign Essien. There has been absolutely no discussion.

"The player is very happy in London and still has four years left on his contract, so I don't see that he will be moving for the moment.

"In football anything can happen and everything changes, but Chelsea are a rich, powerful and ambitious club and he is happy to play for them."

The recent speculation has not been helped following Mourinho’s admission that he would keen to join forces with players from his Stamford Bridge past.

"I think it is normal as a consequence of the relationship with my players," said Mourinho when asked about speculation linking him with moves for Chelsea players.

"Almost all of them want to work with me again in the future and the same goes for me.

"I have a great relationship with almost all of my players and it is normal that these rumours spread.

"But it depends on whether Chelsea want to sell - there has got to be a relation between what one club wants and what another club wants to do.

"The president (Massimo Moratti) knows what I would like, but I am not discussing names with the press. I am not ready to do that."
