The newly reconstituted Division One League Super Cup Committee has held its maiden meeting as preparations begin ahead of the 2026 edition of the annual competition. The meeting, which took place at the Boardroom of the association on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, was the first since the appointment of Rabeh El-Eter as the new chairman of the committee. His leadership marks a renewed drive toward improving the organization and appeal of the pre-season tournament designed for elite Division One League clubs.
Present at the meeting were committee members Mohammed Alhassan, Samuel Arbuah, and Abdul Rahman Yakubu, who joined the chairman in deliberating on key aspects of the upcoming tournament. Also in attendance were representatives from the Association’s Competitions and Communications Departments—Maxwell Casar Kemeh and Abdul Kadir Tophic, respectively—who provided technical and administrative support to the discussions.
Key among the issues deliberated was the choice of venue for the 2026 edition of the Super Cup. The committee is expected to consider a number of hosting options across the country, with attention on facilities that can comfortably accommodate teams, supporters, and broadcast partners. A decision on the final venue is expected after further consultations with relevant stakeholders.
The committee also discussed possible dates for the commencement of the tournament. The 2026 Super Cup is expected to serve as a major precursor to the Division One League season, and the committee is working to identify a suitable window that aligns with the domestic football calendar while ensuring adequate rest and preparation time for participating clubs.
Another major topic on the agenda was sponsorship. The committee emphasized the importance of securing strong corporate partnerships to elevate the competition’s profile and ensure financial sustainability. Talks are expected to begin with potential sponsors in the coming weeks as the committee aims to attract brands that share the vision of supporting Ghana’s second-tier football.
