Charlton Athletic forward Chris Dickson is hoping he can get a role alongside Junior Agogo in Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Libya.

Dickson impressed new coach Milovan Rajevac in the international friendly against Tanzania before he got the call up for the big one on Friday. And he is keen to make the most of it.

“I measure how well I do in games by the goals I scored and did not score in that Tanzania game but obviously the manager saw something he liked and included me in this one so it is now up to me to maximize my chance,” he told KickOffGhana.com.

Dickson has worked his way up from the lower divisions of English football and says the call up by the Black Stars surpasses everything he has done in his career so far.

“To get the call up of your national team is pretty special and I am enjoying it. The big boys were not around for the Tanzania game but it’s nice to be training with the likes of Essien now and gradually I am feeling like part of the group now.”

Dickson’s first game against Tanzania thought him a big lesson about African football; it can be tough out here.

“After the game against Tanzania everyone was asking me if I was fine and I told them not to worry," he said of his first game on African soil. "It was tough but I can take care of myself.”

If he gets his chance against Libya, he will realize it gets tougher when there is a world cup ticket at stake.
