The match burst into life almost instantly. Barely had the referee’s whistle echoed across the pitch when Eric Donkor announced his presence, striking in the very 1st minute to hand GFA an early lead.
Before Stanbic Bank could settle, the pressure intensified - just a minute later, Philip Aseweh doubled the advantage in the 2nd minute, leaving their opponents stunned and scrambling.
GFA continued to dictate the tempo with confidence and attacking precision. In the 15th minute, Foster added his name to the scoresheet, grabbing third goal of the game to stretch the lead to 3–0. Though Stanbic Bank managed a response in the 18th minute, pulling one back to make it 3–1, the first half firmly belonged to GFA, who went into the break with a comfortable cushion.
The second half saw GFA elevate their dominance to another level after Coach Tophic who stepped in for Andy, introduced some fresh legs into the game. Eric Donkor emerged as the star of the show, producing a breathtaking hat-trick within minutes. His second came just two minutes into the second half, finishing off a well-worked move assisted by Forster Ayisi. Just five minutes later, Donkor struck again to make it 5–1, before completing his double-brace in the 22nd minute, sealing an emphatic 6–1 scoreline.
