A proposal seeking to expand the Premier League from 16 teams to a 20-club competition has not been sanctioned yet, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has confirmed.

Lots of talk in the media has claimed that the proposal has already been approved even before Congress gather for its August 18 Extra-Ordinary session to deliberate on a number of proposals.

But President of the FA Kwesi Nyantakyi says the issue is even yet to be discussed at Congress and a decision taken on it.

"Of course, it's one of the issues on the agenda that Congress will discuss and take a decision on.

"No individual or group can claim to pass or reject it [proposal] even before Congress meets. The concerns of all stakeholders are very necessary in such issues and Congress as has always been the practice would take the merits and demerits of such a proposal and come out with a decision.

"I think the arguments for and against the proposal presently in the media do not represent the decision of Congress. I trust that whatever the meeting decides on will be in the best interest of our game and how to always improve upon what we have," the FA President told www.ghanafa.org.

The next league season is set to commence in the first week of September.
