C.K. Gyamfi picks CAF award

One of Ghana’s most celebrated coach and former national star, Charles Kumi Gyamfi was on Friday decorated with the Glo-CAF Merit Order of Achievement award.

The individual award was handed the former Black Stars coach, who guided Ghana to three African Cup of Nations titles at the 2007 African Football awards ceremony at the Palais des Congres in Lome, Togo.

C.K Gyamfi led Ghana to three of its four Nations Cup titles in 1962, 1965 and 1982 is also considered as the most successful coach in the history of the African Cup of Nations.

The 79 year-old veteran, who is revered for being the first African player to play in Germany, when he joined Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1960.

Meanwhile, Ghana legend, Abedi Ayew Pele together with some nine other stars including retired and active players in Africa during the last five decades were also honoured at the ceremony.

Ghana’s supporters were voted the Best Supporters Club. v
