French side, Stade Rennes have added another Ghanaian international to their ranks after completing a move for defender, John Boye.

The former Heart of Lions centre back and Black Stars player had impressed in trials with the French side after he was recommended by their former captain and Ghana star, John Mensah.

However a deal for Boye nearly fell through after claims by Israeli club, Hapoel Petah Tikva that the 21-year-old defender had signed a pre-contract agreement to join them.

But Rennes have announced that they have signed the Ghanaian on a one-year deal, with the first option for an extension if he impresses.

“We have been following him for months. He is a player with great athletic capabilities; he is also fast and has a good aerial game,” a Rennes statement said.

Boye will now join Ghana internationl Asamoah Gyan at Rennes after the striker was signed on this season from Italy's Udinese.
