Ghanaian midfielder, Derek Boateng has denied reports that he was racially abused after playing for Beitar Jerusalem in the Uefa Champions League qualifier last week.

Reports after Beitar's elimination from the competition by Wisla Krakow suggested that the 26-year old had been subjected to racial abuse by his own set of fans, who were unhappy with the loss, and that they had turned up at the club’s Beit Wagan training grounds to direct monkey noises at him.

But Boateng in an interview with KickOffGhana.com is adamant nothing like that happened.

“To be honest with you, I am surprised about the reports,” he said.

“No-one did anything like that to me. We lost a game in Poland, which was painful for everyone, but everything is fine and everyone is getting on with their lives.

“Playing in the Champions League would have been great, but it is not the end of the world.”
