The Black Stars have finished on top of Group F in the 2019 AFCON after beating Guinea Bissau 2-0 in their final group match played at the Suez Stadium on Tuesday.

Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey lit up the second half of the match to give Ghana a win that takes them to 5 points with more goals scored than second placedCameroon who are level on points.

After an almost uneventful first half, Jordan Ayew calmed the nerves of all Ghanaians when he slotted home beautifully in the 46th minute.

Afriyie Acquah replaced tournament debutant Kwabena Owusu in the 66th minute which saw Captain André Ayew switch to the left side of attack with Thomas Partey moving directly behind Jordan Ayew.

The substitution quickly paid off as Baba Rahman’s pass found Thomas Partey whose low shot found the back of the net from inside the box.

The Black Stars kept possession of the ball with coach Appiah bringing on Caleb Ekuban and Kwadwo Asamoah in place of Thomas Partey and Samuel Owusu.

The win takes Ghana to the Round of 16 where they will play the second placed team in Group E at Ismaïlia Stadium on Monday July 8 at 7pm local time.

Meanwhile Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was named as the best player in Tuesday’s match against Guinea Bissau.
