Ghana will enter Tuesday's first-leg playoff of the World Cup qualifying against Egypt aware that they need victory to put themselves in the box seat.

The chances of the Black Stars making a third-straight appearance at the finals rest on the two-leg tie as the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi hosts the first leg.

Nothing is decided yet as either side stand on the verge of qualifying for Brazil depending on how decisive things will pan out after the two-leg tie.

However they control their own destiny when the action starts.

“We have to go into the game making sure that all that we have learnt we put it in place and try to get a win for Ghanaians,” Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said on Monday.

“There’s nothing like away or home game. The most important thing is to prepare your players and they need to give off their best and make sure that the get the goals."

The entire Ghanaian population have Brazil in their sights will be hoping that the Black Stars be up for the task of edging Egypt to the sole qualifying spot.

“I have total confidence in them and I believe they can perform,” Appiah said.

Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has featured in the last two World Cups and knows how Ghanaians have come to associate themselves with the tournament.

“Every Ghanaian is looking up to us to qualify for the World Cup,” Gyan said on the eve of the match.

“This game is a do-or-die affair. We need to qualify whether we play good or bad. As a captain, I have to just edge the boys on and make sure we win this first leg first and wait for the second leg.”
