Every football game has its winner and loser, but the supporters who sit through the action in the arena are never left out of the euphoria or despair no wonder Olympic team coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio is counting on such massive home support when he leads his team to play the Ivory Coast.

Last week, it was the junior national team, the Black Starlets that beat the Ivorian under-17 side to qualify for next year’s African Junior Championship at the Coronation park.

And football fans in Sunyani celebrated till the wee hours of the night. Another of such carnival beckons the supports.

On Sunday, it would be the turn of Cecil Jones Attuquayefio to confirm Ghana’s recent dominance over their Western neighbours.

Ghana are poised to qualify for the 2007 All-African Games but they would first have to displace Ivory Coast over two-legs before inching closer to the tournament to be hosted by Algeria.

Ghana are drawn in Zone III together with Ivory Coast and Nigeria.

However, Nigeria drew a bye and would thus meet the winner of the Ghana-Ivory Coast two-leg tie.

The Olympic team on Thursday played two test games ahead of Sunday’s match.

Premiership side, Bofoakwa Tano fell 4-1 to the Black Meteors inthe morning but the strained national side lost 2-1 to division one side, Aduana Stars later in the afternoon.

The Black Meteors played the afternoon's game without four regular players who featured in the game against Bofoakwa Tano.

Team coach, Cecil Jones Attquayefio is not bothered by the result but remains focused for the Ivorian game.

“They were good games for us. Remember we played the second game of the day without four players who played in the morning.

“And playing two games in a day would generally have an effect on the physical condition of the boys.

“Overall we are happy with the level of preparations and we expect to beat them (Ivorians),” Jones said.
