It’s an exciting time for John Benson, a product of the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence in Doha after the youngster earned a debut call up from Ghana.

Benson was handed a place in the 24-man team announced by Under-20 coach Sellas Tetteh to continue with preparations ahead of the World Youth Championship in Egypt later this month.

Now in his final year to complete his academic education at Aspire, the Ghanaian youngster is desirous of making the best out of this call up.

The player is keen to repay his coaches at Aspire by making it into Ghana’s final team for the Championship.

“There are two defining events in my life so far. The first is when I was selected from thousands of talented young players from my country Ghana and other leading football African Nations, to join one of the world’s most prestigious sports academies.

“The second is when the Ghanaian Football Association called me and asked me to join the Black Satellites. I credit ASPIRE for developing my football skills thanks to the extraordinary sporting facilities, the latest training methods, and the highly qualified coaching staff. All of these factors helped me to earn my official place amongst the Black Satellites. Now I hope I will pay tribute to my training representing both ASPIRE and my country on a global stage at the World Cup,” Benson said.

Benson and the rest of the Ghana squad are using the Aspire facilities as the Black Satellites, African Champions prepare for the Championship.

Ghana are in Group D with England Uzbekistan and Uruguay.
