Battle for dominance and clash of personalities: Asante Kotoko vs Aduana Stars - Preview

Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars are well known for their differences in ideology, battles for dominance and clashes of personality and Sunday’s encounter between two of the Ghana Premier League’s varieties, will be no different.

Asante Kotoko’s five game unbeaten run will be put to test on Sunday when they meet two-time champions Aduana Stars in a match day 10 Ghana Premier League tie at the Accra Sports stadium.

Kotoko have not lost a game since their 1-0 home defeat to Accra Great Olympics in Accra. Under acting head coach Johnson Smith, the Porcupine Warriors have won three (Dreams FC, Liberty professionals, Ebusua Dwarfs) and drawn two (Medeama SC, WAFA) in five outings taking them to third in the League standings with 15 points.

During the period, they have scored six goals and conceded two with Kwame Opoku (4), Ibrahim Moro (1) and Christopher Nettey (1) getting on target.

Kwame Opoku who joined Asante Kotoko from Nkoranza Warriors has scored six goals in the ongoing campaign.

Aduana Stars have not been overly impressive this season but are not far behind this season, picking 13 points and occupying eight in the League table.

Their recent results have not been bad, recording one defeat (against Medeama SC), winning three and drawing one in their last six league games.

Aduana Stars have scored nine goals and conceded six in their last six outings. Yahaya Mohammed and Prince Anokye will play against their former club on Sunday.

Yahaya who has loads of experience on the domestic front, having featured for Tema Youth, Amidaus professionals, Real Tamale United and Asante Kotoko has scored five goals this season.

Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars have been quite balanced in their last five meetings, winning one each and drawing three.

The game is scheduled for 6pm kick off and will be broadcasted live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.
