Football fans would witness an important fixture on the women’s calendar when Kumasi in the Ashanti Region hosts the National Women's Championship.

The Ghana Football Association continues to demonstrate its commitment to the development of the women's game as it once again insures that the fixture comes to fruition by solely sponsoring the Championship.

And for champions, Fabulous Ladies, they have another opportunity to defend the title won last year when the 2nd edition of the 11-day tournament starts on March 14 and comes to a conclusion on Thursday, March 24, 2011.

It would bring together champions and runners up of the zonal leagues in the country.

Six teams - Fiapre Ladies, Hasaacas Ladies, Fabulous Ladies, Sunyani Reformers, Ghatel Ladies and Soccer Intellectuals would take to the pitches at the three match venues - Wesley College Park, Opoku Ware and Prempeh Schools Park.

According to the Women's League Board, the organizers, it would be an all-play-all system and the team which picks the most points goes on to win the Championship.
