Karela United F C was established in 2014 after Metro Stars was purchase in the year 2013.

In 2014 the new owners decided to change the name from Metro Stars to Karela United F C.

Karela compete in the Ghana Division One league and emerge victorious which saw their promotion to the Ghana Premier League in the year 2017.

Karela United F C is located in the Aiyinese Ellembelle District of the western part of Ghana.

Karela plays its home games at the Crossby Awuah Memorial Park.
