Bibiani Gold Stars moved top of Zone Two following a 3-1 win against Venomous Vipers at Dun’s park.

Prince Owusu scored a brace on the day to take his tally to 12 goals in 12 games to consolidate his place at the top of Zone two the top scorers’ chart.

The 23-year-old scored in the first half before Samuel Ofori drilled home a late strike for the third goal for Gold Stars after Joseph Kwandaho had reduced the deficit for Venomous Vipers.

The League leaders aim to continue their smooth sailing on Sunday against Pacific Heroes at Agogo.

Pacific Heroes are in 9th place with 15 points, 12 points behind leaders, Gold Stars, who lead the table with 27 points. The race for the top spot is becoming keener by the day as giants like Skyy FC, Sekondi Hasaacas and New Edubiase United continue to breath down the neck of Gold Stars.

Skyy FC have 26 points, Samartex are in third place with 22 points while New Edubiase United occupy the fourth spot with 19 points.

Skyy FC led the table for four weeks on the spin. But the 1-1 draw against New Edubiase United on Saturday knocked them off the top spot, allowing Gold Stars to overtake them. They are badly bruised and would need a win against Achiken FC to keep their credentials intact.

In other games, giants Sekondi Hasaacas have a test against Unistar Academy at the Gyandu park. While New Edubiase United host Asokwa Deportivo.
