Former Ghana international, Anthony Yeboah has praised young striker Eric Bekoe, who he believes possesses "everything" that will see him become a scoring great.

Eric Bekoe struck a brace on the final day of the OneTouch Premier League to take his tally to 17, earning him the Goal King title in his first season for Asante Kotoko.

Anthony Yeboah, himself a former top scorer in the Ghanaian league in 1988 before going over to Europe to become a joint top scorer on two occasions in the German Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt and a successful spell at Leeds United in the English Premiership feels Bekoe can travel the same path, he told KickOffGhana.com.

“He has got everything to be great. He can shoot with both legs and he packs a powerful shot. He contributes a great deal to the play too so if he keeps his cool he has got a great future ahead of him,” the former Ghana striker said.

If there was always an element of doubt surrounding Eric Bekoe’s ability to hold onto his scoring form, Yeboah thinks otherwise and he remains impressed with the Ghanaian internationals strength both physical and mental.

“He talks a good talk but he is also so strong on the ball. Physically he is so strong which gives him a major advantage.”

Despite all the positives, Yeboah feels Bekoe must be protected and encouraged by a nation and says the player must follow in the footsteps of previous Goal King winners and take his goal scoring skills to Europe.

“He will get better in Europe,” he said.

“He will train with better facilities and they will spend time refining him. If he has keeps his cool and eye on the job, he will come out one of the best strikers this country has ever seen.”
