Referees and assistant referees selected for the upcoming 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League have commenced a four-day technical training programme at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.
The intensive course, running from Monday, October 20 to Thursday, October 23, 2025, is designed to enhance the officials’ technical knowledge, fitness and match management skills ahead of the new league season.
The training programme will provide participants with updated interpretations of the Laws of the Game in line with the latest IFAB and FIFA guidelines, ensuring consistency and accuracy in officiating throughout the season.
In addition to technical sessions, referees are undergoing FIFA-approved integrity and ethics modules, aimed at reinforcing professionalism, transparency, and fair play, core values that underpin the success and credibility of the women’s league.
Participants are expected to benefit from a blend of classroom-based instruction and on-field practical sessions, including scenario-based exercises to improve positioning, communication, and decision-making under pressure.
The training also focuses on fitness assessments and teamwork, ensuring officials are physically and mentally prepared to meet the demands of the competitive season ahead.
The 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season is scheduled to kick off over the weekend of October 31 to November 3, 2025, with fixtures taking place across both the Northern and Southern Zones.
