Black Satellites captain, Aziz Misbau, has assured fans that his side is fully prepared to face Nigeria in the opening match of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Championship. The highly anticipated encounter is set for Thursday, July 10 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Speaking at the official pre-match press conference, Aziz acknowledged the strength of the Nigerian side but emphasized Ghana’s readiness and calm focus ahead of the clash.

“Nigeria is a big country and we respect them. But we are very ready for this game,” he said. “There is no pressure on us to beat Nigeria. We respect them but it’s a normal game,” he added.

The young skipper’s confident tone reflects the mood in the Satellites's camp, where preparations have been intense over the past weeks under head coach Desmond Ofei. The team is aiming to make a strong start in Group A, which includes Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin.

Aziz, who plays as a center forward, is seen as a key figure in Ghana’s quest for regional glory. His leadership on and off the pitch will be vital as the Black Satellites aim to avenge their loss to Nigeria in the final of the previous edition held in Togo.

The match is expected to draw a large crowd as it opens the two-week tournament featuring seven nations from the WAFU Zone B sub-region.

Ghana’s players and technical team are counting on home support to spur them on to a positive start.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
