We are determined to raise high the flag of Ghana – Karim Zito

Coach Karim Zito’s squad worked out at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou on Monday, ahead of Tuesday’s Total Africa U-20 Cup of Nations Group C opener against Tanzania.

Ghana have been training at Stade de Nouadhibou Academy park since they arrived in Mauritania.

All 26 players participated in the session and appear ready for the game on Tuesday. The Black Satellites were handed a further boost on Monday, after receiving confirmation that all players, technical staff and management committee members passed the mandatory Covid-19 test.

“We are coming into this competition as champions of WAFU B so we are coming into this competition with that mentality. Coach Karim Zito said in his pre match interview.

“Winning the first game is really important to us in order to boost our confidence in the competition.

“We know all Ghanaians are counting on us to perform well at this tournament and we are determined to raise high the flag of Ghana”, coach Zito added.

Speaking ahead of the game, left back Benjamin Aloma stated that Ghana has produced lots of talents at the U-20 level and the current team is poised to add their names to Ghana’s record at this level.

“Our ultimate target is to win every match during this competition and to repeat what we did at the WAFU”, the left back intimated.

Ghana’s opening game against Tanzania is scheduled for 4:00pm kick off.

The other Group C game between Morocco and The Gambia will be played at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou at 7pm

The Black Satellites will take on Morocco in their next group match before taking on Gambia in the final group match.
