
Ghanaian referee Theophilus Aberenga Akugre has been handed a key officiating role in the ongoing WAFU B U17 Boys Championship as he has been named Assistant Referee 1 for the third-place playoff between Burkina Faso and Nigeria. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to kick off at 15:00GMT at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The center referee for the encounter will be Ivorian official Hugues Modeste Richard Kokora, who will be supported by Akugre on the sidelines and Fatchima Oumarou Inazdane from Niger as Assistant Referee 2. The officiating team will also feature Benin’s Christelle Ligan as the fourth official, while Agathe Atacou will serve as the match commissioner.
Palanga Pagui Essodina will be the General Coordinator for the game while Ghana’s Patrick Kwame Akoto serves as the Assistant General Coordinator.
Akugre’s appointment comes after a series of commendable performances in previous matches of the tournament, further boosting Ghana’s presence in regional officiating.
