Ahead of Sunday's 2010 African and World Cup qualifying match, Lesotho remain hopeful of springing a surprise against Ghana.

The Southern African country will play their first game in the qualifiers on Sunday against the Black Stars in Bloemfontein as they hope to get their qualifying campaign off to the perfect start.

Lesotho had their game against Gabon postponed as a result of a strike by air traffic workers in Libreville.

Now under the guidance of Serbian Zavisa Milosavljevic, Lesotho are hoping to put that episode behind them and battle Ghana.

“The disappointment after the failure to go to Gabon is now behind us. We are faced with the big one against Ghana, who are one of the giants of African soccer,” he told the Sowetan.

Ghana started the World Cup campaign in good form, hitting three past Libya in Kumasi on Sunday.

The Black Stars go into the game at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein as favourites but Milosavljevic is daring to dream.

“It is always great to play against the big guns. You don’t really have to say much to the players as it is a norm in football to rise to the occasion against the giants.

“There are always surprises in football, for those who believe in Christianity will tell you about the fight between David and Goliath.”
