
Black Starlets head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has lauded the resilience and determination of his players following their emphatic 3-1 victory over Niger on Friday evening to book a place in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Ivory Coast.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Dr. Ogum revealed the mindset of the team going into the crucial encounter. He believes the boys knew the task ahead and were fully focused from the start.
He also revealed that his boys needed to be positive and aggressive, especially in the opening stages, and that paid off when they scored very early in the game.
The Black Starlets, who were pegged back by a quick Nigerien equalizer, showed character and composure to restore their dominance after the break. Addressing the goal conceded, Dr. Ogum noted: He disclosed that it was a lapse in concentration and something they’ll have to work on.
Looking ahead to the semi-finals, the coach assured fans that his technical team will correct the few errors identified in the Niger match.
