The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially commenced the second batch of its Free License D coaching course for colts coaches in the Upper East Region. The training, which began on June 9 and is scheduled to end on June 16, is taking place at the Kurt Okraku Technical Centre in Winkogo, near Bolgatanga.

This marks the first regional session for the year 2025 under the GFA's ambitious three-year policy to train 900 colts coaches nationwide at no cost. Last year, 300 coaches benefited from the program across various regions. Another 300 are expected to be trained this year, with the final batch set for 2026.

The initiative is part of the GFA's broader effort to enhance grassroots football development by equipping youth coaches with the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills. The License D course covers key areas such as youth player development, coaching methodology, fitness training, and player welfare.

"The Upper East Region is proud to be the first to kick-start this year's edition of the coaching course," said Alhaji Salifu Seidu Zida, the Regional FA Chairman.

"This reflects our commitment to developing the game from the grassroots and ensuring our young footballers are guided by trained and certified professionals."

Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, noting that the course will go a long way to improve the standard of youth coaching in the region. The GFA’s initiative continues to receive praise for its strategic focus on building capacity at the foundational level of Ghanaian football.
