FIFA expert, Cyrille Betemps has paid a visit to the site of the Bolgatanga Artificial Turf project to conduct tests on the land and soil, as part of the processes for the construction of the field under the FIFA Forward 1.0 infrastructure project.

The expert’s role at the site was to gather all the necessary elements for a smooth take off of the project.

The report of Cyrille Betemps, which will be sent to the FIFA Development Office, will be a fulfilment of a critical step in the Project Management process, which will solve a huge infrastructure gap in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

Land Acquisition & Registration – Completed

This inspection stage follows the acquisition of the land and its registration in the name of the Ghana Football Association, a key step under the FIFA Forward Regulations. Unlike the previous FIFA Goal Project Regulations, ownership of land was not a condition precedent to application for FIFA projects. The FIFA Forward Regulations makes ownership of land on which FIFA projects are situated a primary requirement.

For this, the Ghana Football Association is extremely grateful to the Regional Football Association and all stakeholders including the traditional authorities, the Bolgatanga Secondary School and the Land Commission office.

The registration documents once secured, were sent to FIFA, following which the next step of the survey was conducted.

Topography Survey & Geotechnical Field Investigation Studies and Report

Following the registration of the land, the next requirements were for a Geological company to conduct Topography Survey and Geotechnical Field Investigation Studies.

These two surveys were successfully conducted at the site and the reports has since been sent to FIFA.

It was after a successful submission of the two geological reports that FIFA sent its expert to Bolgatanga to continue with the progress of the project.

FIFA to build the Artificial Turf

It must be noted that this project is fully being undertaken by FIFA from procurement to completion.

The GFA opted to allow FIFA to fully take charge and execute this project considering the timelines, the deadline of the application process per the requirements of the FIFA Forward Regulations on the FIFA Forward 1.0.

Regular Updates

The Association knowing the importance of the project to the football family and all stakeholders in the Upper East Region of Ghana will continue to update all stakeholders regularly on the progress made by FIFA on this FIFA Forward funded project.
