Zone One leading scorer Mohammed Yahaya has been the star player in the Zone following a brilliant campaign that has catapulted his side Tamale City Football Club to the second spot in the League table.

Yahaya has scored 10 goals and made 4 assists in 14 matches – making him the most prolific striker across the three Zones in the on-going League.

The 22 year old is expected to end the first round of the season on a high by widening the gap at the top of the chart as he has three goals more than Dramani Awuah (Nkoranza Warriors), Samuel Ofori (Nsoatreman FC), Mbossan Sule (Kintampo FC) and Emmanuel Yeboah (Young Apostles) who are on 7 goals each.

The race for Premier League slot will be intensified this weekend when leaders Nsoatreman FC trek to the Golden City Park in Berekum as guests of Unity FC. While Tamale City, who have a date with Bolga All Stars at the Aliu Mahama stadium are in second place in the table. Tano Bofoakwa, Berekum Arsenal and Wa Yassin follow in 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.

Last weekend, Nsoatreman FC were pegged back by Berekum Arsenal in a 1-1 draw at the Twumasi Sports complex to cut their lead to two points in Zone One.

Richmond Oppong equalized for the leaders in the 79th minute after conceding in the 2nd minute through Amos Yeboah. They have the longest winning run in the Zone (9) and boasts of an unbeaten record with five of those games ending in a draw.

Nsoatreman FC sits at the top of the Zone One table with 32 points – two points clear and would aim to end the first round of the season in an impressive manner.

Bolga All Stars have picked only 11 points from a possible 42 – and must play above themselves to avoid defeat on Sunday. With all the odds looking in the direction of Nsoatreman FC, the League leaders face an unpredictable test this weekend.

Tano Bofoakwa who missed the Premier League ticket on the final day of last season, began this campaign in an uncompromising fashion – but have had an amazing comeback to climb to third place with 22 points.

The former Premier League will play host to Young Apostles at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Sunday. Young Apostles have amassed 20 points in the League -0 two points behind their host heading into the derby.

Another pick of the pack will be witnessed at the Twumasi Sports complex where Berekum Arsenal lock horns with Brong Ahafo United on Sunday.
