Former Premier League side Elmina Sharks were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Fettehman United FC in their opening fixture of the 2026/27 UMB Division One League season at the Nduom Sports Complex on Sunday.

Elmina Sharks dominated proceedings and created several scoring opportunities but failed to find the back of the net, allowing Fettehman United to secure a valuable point away from home on their debut in the competition.

Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs, who finished second last season, began their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Skyy FC at the St. Martin’s School Park on Sunday.

The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute through Emmanuel Osei before Godfred Eshun doubled their advantage with a header in the 31st minute. Dwarfs went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Skyy FC responded strongly after the interval and pulled a goal back through Emmanuel Mensah in the 78th minute. However, the home side could not find an equaliser as Mysterious Dwarfs held on to secure all three points.

Former Premier League side Nations FC also began their 2026/27 campaign with an important 1-0 away win over newly promoted Ebiemo Nzema FC at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena on Saturday.

Daniel Lomotey scored the decisive goal in the 34th minute to give Nations FC the lead. Ebiemo Nzema pushed for an equaliser, but Nations FC defended resolutely to protect their advantage and secure maximum points on the road.

The results give Nations FC and Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs a winning start to the new campaign, while Fettehman United also picked up a valuable point on their Division One League debut.
