The premiership’s top four clubs on Sunday got off the starting blocks in the off-season Top-4 tournament which recorded a win and a draw at two match centres.

Heart of Lions, who are looking for a successive Top-4 title after having won the last edition of the competition, posted a 1-0 victory over league champions, Accra Hearts of Oak in their match-day-I action at the Robert Mensah stadium.

Alan Shearer scored from close range in the 9th minute when he poked in the match winner after Hearts goalkeeper, Sannie Mohammed had spilled into play a Samuel Ellis shot.

The Phobians parading Ishmael Addo Bernard Dong Bortey and Eric Gawu pushed for the equaliser but were always brushed off by the back four of the Lions.

At the Coronation Park, Kumasi Asante Kotoko were held to goalless draw by Berekum Arsenals

After match-day-1 action, Heart of Lions jump into the lead with three points followed by Berekum Arsenals and Asante Kotoko who are both on one point apiece while Hearts of Oak are bottom with after losing on the opening day.

The competition is played among the first four clubs of the premier league at the end of every soccer season.

Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kpando Heart of Lions all past winners and Berekum Arsenals are competing for honours in the 1.4 billion cedi competition.
