The West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B has appointed three Ghanaians—Jamil Maraby, Alex Kotey and Osei Kwadwo Adow—to its newly constituted committees, marking a significant milestone in the sub-regional body’s governance and administrative evolution.
The appointments were confirmed following the successful 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU B, held in Rabat, where member associations approved the establishment of a comprehensive committee structure aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and professionalism.
Jamil Maraby, Director of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been named Chairperson of the Marketing Committee, a three-member body tasked with enhancing commercial growth, brand visibility and strategic partnerships for football development across the zone.
Alex Kotey, the GFA’s Referees Manager, has been appointed as a member of the WAFU B Referees Committee, where he will contribute his extensive experience toward improving officiating standards and referee development within the sub-region.
Chairman of the GFA Disciplinary Committee, Osei Kwadwo Adow, has been selected as a member of the WAFU B Appeals Committee, reinforcing the body’s commitment to judicial integrity and due process.
In total, seven committees—Disciplinary, Appeals, Referees, Marketing, Women’s Football, Development and Finance—have been officially constituted, each comprising a chairperson and two members. This marks the first time in the history of WAFU Zone B that such a structured, comprehensive and professional committee framework has been implemented.
The move represents a major step forward in strengthening governance, professionalising internal mechanisms and laying a sustainable foundation for long-term football development across the region.
