Former Ghana U-20 coach Sellas Tetteh has resigned as Rwanda's national team coach, the country's football federation (FERWAFA) said on Tuesday.

Tetteh signed a two-year deal in February 2010 to guide the Amavubi Stars through the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers but he failed to make an impact as Rwanda have won only one of five matches in the competition.

His resignation comes only days after the team crashed 5-0 to the Ivory Coast, who have secured their ticket to the finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

"I have resigned as Amavubi head coach because of personal reasons," said Tetteh in his letter to FERWAFA.

"I thank the Rwanda Football Federation, the ministry of youth, sports and culture and all for their support during my tenure."

During his short stint, Tetteh managed to qualify Rwanda to the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) in Sudan early this year and also guided the side to the quarter-finals of the CECAFA Challenge Cup held in Tanzania last year.

But the weekend defeat by the Ivory Coast has left Rwanda bottom of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group H with only three points.
