Tamale City beat rivals Real Tamale United to retain top spot in Zone One of Access Bank Division One League

Tamale City strengthened their hold on top spot in Zone One A with a hard-fought 2-1 win over city rivals Real Tamale United on Saturday at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The visitors struck first in the 10th minute through a composed finish from Mikdar Ishak, but Real Tamale United responded in the 39th minute when Rahim Akanta unleashed a brilliant volley to level the score.

After the break, Tamale City restored their lead in the 75th minute courtesy of a decisive strike from Mohammed Musah Salifu. The victory keeps Tamale City unbeaten in Zone One A, having collected 24 points from their opening ten matches.

Debibi United keeps top spot in Zone One B

Debibi United tightened their grip on the summit of Zone One B with a 1-0 triumph over struggling Victory Club Warriors on Sunday at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, despite being reduced to ten men in the second half. Kwadwo Antwi netted the decisive goal in the 54th minute after a goalless first half. Debibi United have now amassed 28 points from ten matches.

Legon Cities remain bottom of the table after a heavy 4-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Berekum Arsenal at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman. Naafew Gariba opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 19th minute, before Ebenezer Nii Abbey Shamo doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime. Julius Kwarteng made it 3-0 in the 61st minute, and Abdul Karim Iddrisu added a superb fourth in the 90th minute. Legon Cities grabbed a consolation through Williams Amoako in stoppage time, but it was too little, too late.

Despite the emphatic victory, Berekum Arsenal remain in the relegation zone with 10 points.
