Stars trio vie for SWAG gong

Three Black Stars players have been nominated by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana -SWAG, for the Male Footballer of the Year gong for the past year, 2007.

A statement from the association on Wednesday, announced a tall list which includes sporting personalities vying for honours and others who would be conferred with awards.

Laryea Kingston, Micheal Essien and Sulley Muntari, all regular members of the Black Stars would vie for football’s highest gong at this year’s awards event.

Other awards which would go to football people include the Promising Player of the Year award credited to junior national team striker, Ransford Osei of Kessben FC.

Black Stars player, Moussa Narry who plays for Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel would pick the Dedication and Valour Award while Sekondi Hasaacas attacker, John Ainoo goes for the Special Meritorious Award.

According to the media body, SWAG, the second batch of the award winners would be announced in due course.
