John Paintsil is delighted with the sterling performance by the Black Stars which handed Ghana a 2-0 win over Gabon on Sunday.

Sunday’s victory helps Ghana reclaim the top spot in Group 5 of the African zone qualifiers of the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup by a superior goal difference over Libya, who also have 9 points apiece.

The Black Stars had come under criticism after falling to Gabon by a similar scoreline last week in Libreville.

However, as the pressure mounted, the Stars came out and put up a great performance at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra to claim all three points.

John Paintsil in a post match interview said to www.ghanafa.org that the opposition was much better this time round but they (Black Stars) were ready for it.

“Gabon was fantastic but we were ready for the game. They played much better than they did back home.

“We were ready to give in everything and we gave all out for victory.”

Ghana would resume the qualifiers in September with an away game to Libya in Tripoli before rounding up the Group 5 qualifiers at home to Lesotho.

But Painstil is wary of complacency and says the team would have to maintain their discipline throughout the qualifiers.

“The most important thing is to keep our discipline and we want to qualify. We wouldn’t panic.

“From now on, we have to maintain our discipline and play for a win every time we play,” added the Ghana full-back.
