Black Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh has hailed his team’s work ethic, one week after going through the drills with a 30-man squad.
The national Under-20 has been preparing in Accra for the up-coming West Africa Football Union (Wafu) tournament which begins on November 28 in Nigeria.
For the Ghanaian coach, his team is slowing adjusting to the standards though they are yet to reach their best form.
“I have been impressed with the fitness of the players. When they came in, we had to do lots of conditioning to get them ready.
“We know they had been training for the new football season in the country with their various clubs but we had to reach an appreciable level considering the tasks ahead of us,” revealed Sellas Tetteh.
Sellas Tetteh has no plans of including any foreign-based player in the squad for the Wafu competition and says his side; all locally-based, has the quality to put in a good performance.
“I have thirty players under my eyes and we (technical team) are working with them. They are the best set of players who we could gather.
“They have good footballing skills and we are just working on their tactical level. I would go to the Wafu competition with just that.
“The spirit is good and they are aware that no one is guaranteed a starting place. I need total commitment and the desire to win whiles staying disciplined throughout the game,” the former Black Stars assistant coach said.
And Tetteh’s belief in his team is certainly expected to be transformed after Wednesday 10-goal haul in two separate test games against local sides.
The Black Satellites started Wednesday morning with a 4-1 win over Bright Future before completing the day’s double match test, racking up a 6-1 victory past Flying Jets.
Ghana open their Wafu Cup campaign in Ughelli in Nigeria's Delta State, against Senegal on November 28, before taking on Guinea two days later and a game against familiar opponents, the Gambia on December 2.
According to the competition rules, the first two clubs from each group after the round-robin will progress to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semi final stage.
Fourteen countries from the sub-region would be participating.
