German side, Schalke have shelved any plans of signing Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah from Fenerbahce.

The Bundesliga club's team manager Andreas Muller says his side are no longer looking to sign Stephen Appiah.

The Royal Blues had been keen to bring the Fenerbahce midfielder to Gelsenkirchen, but Muller has now admitted defeat due to the player's high wage demands:

"There is no chance of a transfer. We were just too far apart in the question of wages. It would have been too big a risk for us to enter into," Muller told Kicker after a meeting with the club's executive board.
