The Premier League is considered the flagship football competition in the country providing enough thrills, passion and reactions.

In the days preceding the start of the Glo Premier League, clubs have dominated the build up to the new season. But aside their preparations, there is another group which views the competition as very important as their very decisions are subjected to many reviews.

Match officials for the up-coming season today were taken through a one-day orientation programme in Accra to prepare them for the season.

"We always seek to improve on the previous years. Our decisions are always under review and there is the need to ensure that we put in good standards and ensure fair-play," retired FIFA referee Alex Kotey said.

110 referees, made up of 40 centre officials and 70 assistants have been taken through some changes enacted by the Ghana Football Association to improve their work.

According to Alex Kotey, who is a member of the Referees Appointment Committee of the GFA, the programme touched on three important areas:

- The new match report form introduced by the FA.

- The workings of the Review Panel Committee who will review refereeing decisions and performance.

- The Appraisal form to be completed by Clubs after every game.
