Asante Kotoko will rue the away goal conceded a fortnight ago against Ittihad Khemisset with the Moroccans dumping the Ghanaian champions out of the African Champions League.

The Reds entered the game with a two-goal lead after a 3-1 win from the first leg in Sekondi but failed to find target on Sunday as Ittihad Khemisset won 2-0.

The home win made the score 3-3 on aggregate as it handed the Moroccans a qualifying route to the next round of the competition on the away goals rule.

Kotoko have been poor in recent times as they now have a failing domestic campaign as their only source of glory.

With the domestic campaign on a break after the end of the first round, Kotoko, lying fourth on the table and 11 points adrift the leaders will return home to try and put the pieces together.
