Milovan Rajevac believes Kevin-Prince Boateng could prove to be a good option for Ghana at the World Cup in the absence of Michael Essien.

Essien’s loss has been described by the Ghana coach as a handicap but the Serbia coach remains confident in the options he has available.

The Black Stars reached the last 16 of the World Cup four years ago in their first appearance and already expectations are high.

But Rajevac says Boateng who is making his tournament debut since swapping Germany for Ghana is capable of filling the Chelsea player’s shoes.

"Mike (Essien) not being with us is truly a great handicap but Kevin has come in as a new player," he said.

"Certain other players who were injured have also returned and the young players have integrated well.

"He (Boateng) has adjusted well and he might be one of the most intriguing players at the World Cup."

Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah agreed that Boateng has fitted in well and also stressed on the importance of having a united team.

"He's even cracking some jokes in our language, he's happy in this team but it's easy to adjust," he said.

"The unity is there, we love each other and you can't see any difference between the young players and the senior players, the locals or the ones that play abroad, that's our secret."
