Quincy racing for World Cup success

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie hopes to have a great impact at the World Cup after admititng his delight to return to the Ghana team for his debut competition.

The Al-Saad winger returned to the Black Stars face Holland last Tuesday and scored in Ghana's final warm up game against Latvia last Saturday after being out since the World Cup qualifier in Libya in September 2008.

His goal against the Latvians renewed confidence in the Black Stars after their defeat to the Dutch in first of warm-up game before the team arrived in South Africa.

Now, Quincy, is hoping to win a place in Milovan Rajevac’s starting team and recreate such moments when the World Cup begins for Ghana in Group D.

"Hopefully I will have telling impact and create some good opportunities for the team down the wings. I have never been involved in the World Cup before so you can imagine how eager I am. We also have a strong team so I am excited," he said.

"We just have to take is a game at a time. We have Serbia first and if we stay focused, we have a good team and good team spirit that should get is through."

"Preparations are looking good and everyone is fit. It feels great. I have missed the team, I have missed the atmosphere and I have missed the players so I am happy to be here."

Ghana plays Serbia in the first World Cup game before facing Australia and Germany in Group D.
